  • Worry about the content, not the technology, I’m here to help.

Adding Media

The Media Library holds all uploaded images, audio or video you upload using the Add Media button in the Post editor.

Adding a Feature Image

This theme uses the Feature image to display on the front page blocks for each post.

  • From the post editor page, find Set featured image link in the Featured Image box.
  • Clicking the link will open the Media library dialog box
  • Upload an image
  • With the uploaded image selected, click the Set featured Image button on the bottom right.

Be sure to either publish or update your post.

Add a marker in your post to MapPress for the “Mapping Movie Memories” page

  • On the Post Editor window, beneath the content box, click New Map.
  • Add the map title (i.e. Salina, KS).
  • In the search box above the map, type in the location and hit return.
  • Confirm that the marker is in the right location.
  • Click the blue Save button above the search box.
  • Publish or update your post.

Adding a PDF in the google doc embedder plugin

  • Upload your pdf to the media library
  • Click on Add Media button
  • From the Upload Files tab either select the pdf from you local machine or drag and drop the file from your local machine into the window.
  • Once the file is uploaded make sure it is selected then click “Insert into Post”
  • The link to the PDF will be surrounded by “shortcode” which uses the plugin to display the pdf on the post.

Adding Images from a news article

  • Right click on the image and choose “Save Image as”
  • If appropriate rename the image and save to a location on your computer.
  • Click the Add Media button and drag and drop the image into the Media Library.
  • On the right, change the alignment if you want
  • Select Link to>Custom URL and copy and paste the link to the news article here.
  • Be sure to cite the source for your post within the post content.

Adding images from Google Images

  • Open Google images, find the image you would like to add to the blog. Click View Image.
  • Copy the URL and click add media.
  • Choose Add media from URL.
  • Link to image URL, or to a custom URL.

Adding YouTube

  • YouTube videos will be displayed as a video player on the blog within the post
  • Find the video you’d like to feature
  • Copy the URL
  • In the Post editor, paste the URL on it’s own line (return before and after the URL).
    • If you only see the URL and not a video player, it is usually because the URL is not on a line by itself.
  • You can add videos from other sites such as Vimeo.
  • Video in News sites is a little tricky. You need to find the link directly to the video on the page.
  • If you need help, email pam.patterson@yale.edu.
